Why get involved?
The Court Assistant
“I joined the Stationers' Company as I have been involved with publishing, design , print and paper for most of my working life and thoroughly enjoy the fellowship of those in these and related trades. The magnificent Stationers' Hall provides a splendid setting for social events and lectures and for making new contacts. The Company is rightly very proud of its long and rich history. The sense of this history and tradition makes every visit to the Hall a delight.
I have a strong interest in Education and hope that through my work on the Stationers' Foundation the Company will increase its involvement in literacy programmes in the Inner city. For many years, I have been involved with WWF in working towards more responsible sourcing of Paper. This background has enabled me to work with others towards providing a strong platform within the company on Environmental issues. I find my involvement with the Stationers' Company, both socially and on the Court, to be hugely enjoyable, stimulating and inspirational.”

The Liveryman
“As a representative of a fairly innovative new media agency, albeit one that does most of its work for publishers, I like to think that my receiving an invitation to join the Stationers and Newspaper Makers reflects the Company’s desire to balance respect for tradition with the need to embrace the changing nature of its members' business activity, and this indirectly explains my decision to become a liveryman. Although, like all members of the Company, I get immense satisfaction from involvement in the traditions and historic surroundings, I also believe that the Stationers today has real relevance to the digital media industry. Among the Company are some of the most important and influential members of the Media community, and I feel very lucky to be able to enjoy their company and to work with them in supporting the Industry in such a unique environment.”

The Freeman
Being a Freeman and Liveryman of The Stationers’ and Newspaper Makers’ Company at Stationers Hall is being part of history. Joining was a unique opportunity to be part of a 400 plus year old Livery Company and has enabled me to experience a wealth of events and social functions that are all part of the Company year.
I work within the Office Supply sector and it is great to have a Livery Company such as ours that can offer support through the many technical debates and industry based forums that run throughout the year. The Hall is a meeting place for many interesting people who are all involved one way or another in my industry and, as such, it has been a great place to network and meet new friends.
Another advantage of being a Freeman/Liveryman is the social events. There are several dinners and lunches throughout the year which are really good fun and held in one of the best settings in London. I thoroughly enjoy taking my friends and family to these and they are always suitably impressed!
To be part of the Company is a great privilege and a lot of fun!
