The Paper Industry Gold Medal
From time to time, individuals emerge whose contribution to the paper and allied industries extends far beyond their responsibilities to any one company. The Paper Industry Gold Medal exists to recognise and celebrate these exceptional ambassadors of the sector.
Established in the late 1960s, the Gold Medal has, for over half a century, represented the highest individual accolade within the UK’s Paper-based Industries. Awarded following consideration by an independent committee drawn from across industry associations, it honours those who have made an outstanding and lasting contribution to the advancement of the sector as a whole.
As part of a move to a biennial awards cycle, aligning the Paper Industry Gold Awards with the Confederation of Paper Industries’ Biennial Health and Safety Conference, the next Gold Medal will be presented in 2027. The Paper Industry Gold Medal remains an integral and prestigious part of the Paper Industry Gold Awards, and this approach ensures the award continues to receive the prominence, rigour and recognition it deserves. Further details on the 2027 Awards will be announced later this year.
We encourage members and industry colleagues to begin thinking about potential nominations for the Paper Industry Gold Medal. The award recognises individuals who have made an exceptional and lasting contribution to the UK’s Paper-based Industries, demonstrating leadership, commitment and influence that extends beyond their own organisation and delivers benefit to the wider sector.
