Why are apprenticeships important to your business?

The work-based learning an apprenticeship offers is vital within our industry to ensure we are developing skills both now and in the future.

What sort of apprenticeship roles do you have in your business?

We are committed to supporting individuals to develop their careers, giving them not just the necessary skills and knowledge training but also the autonomy they need to figure out how to do things their way. LEAP is an award-winning Apprenticeship team delivering programmes from Level 2 to Level 7, allowing individuals to gain qualifications in subjects including; Kitchen Design, Sales, Buying and Merchandising and Management. Developing the ‘profession’ in Building Materials Supply.

Our programmes will set you up for a successful career in the Building Supply Sector or could give you the ability to network with our supply chain and move into the construction sector with your newly developed product knowledge.

Do you regularly recruit apprenticeships into your business, and why?

We recruit Apprentices throughout the year for all of our partner/member organisations. Recruiting apprentices allows businesses to bring in new talent with new ideas to help shape the future of their organisations.

What difference do apprenticeships make to the sector that you work in?

Apprenticeships allow our sector to recruit a more diverse workforce and allow us to pipeline talent for the future.

Where do apprenticeships fit into the future of your business and your sector?

Our industry has some huge challenges to tackle over the next few years. The Built Environment currently produces almost 40% of carbon emissions in the UK. As a business, we are committed to reducing carbon within our industry by driving modern building techniques and upskilling our customers to make use of these.  We see Apprentices as a vital part of this change process, coming up with innovative new ideas that will help us to achieve these ambitions. Joining a BMF / LEAP Apprenticeship will give you real opportunities to positively impact our industry, helping us to build better communities and enrich lives.

What attributes do you look for in candidates that apply to your apprenticeship roles?

Whichever apprenticeship you choose you’ll need to be motivated, ambitious and up for working in a fast-paced, diverse environment. We’ll give you plenty of support but you’ll also get ownership, responsibility for real work and the freedom to figure out how to do things your way.
