Master's Installation Party 2025
Celebrates the Installation of our new Master

Following Common Hall, Liverymen, Freemen and their guests are invited to stay on for the Master’s Installation Party, with a champagne canapé reception in the garden.

This year, if elected, the new Master will be Doug Wills (pictured above).

Doug Wills is Editor Emeritus of the London Standard and The Independent. He was
previously Managing Editor of the Evening Standard for 15 years, 10 of those as Group
Managing Editor including for the Independent. Doug trained in journalism with Thomson
Regional Newspapers in Berkshire, went on to be the political correspondent for the
Western Daily Press in Bristol before rejoining Thomson newspapers in a number of roles
including features editor, chief sub editor and Deputy Editor. He moved to London to join
the Mirror Group helping to launch the London Daily News as Assistant Editor
(production).

Doug is a former President of the Society of Editors and former Chair of the London Press
Club. He remains an active stakeholder in both organisations. Doug consolidated his 30-
year commitment to Rotary International by becoming President of the Rotary Club of
London and is a Rotary International representative for the Commonwealth.

Doug joined the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers in 2012. He
is an avid supporter of the Stationers’ Foundation’s bursaries for courses for the training
of aspiring journalists. He also launched an Editorial Diversity Apprenticeship Scheme, a
partnership between the London Standard and the Stationers and Newspaper Makers’
Company. It is still running today and has brought many young people into the profession
and the Stationers.

Doug’s consort is Elisabeth Reyes, who runs her own company working with digital
entrepreneurs.

Doug has two children from an earlier marriage. They are: Christopher who after an early
career as a journalist, launched and runs a dog training business; Kathryn who lives in
Australia, has two young children and works for Google’s YouTube.
