We are delighted to announce that this year's speaker will be journalist Kamal Ahmed.

Kamal Ahmed is co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of The News Movement, a new media business focused on social media channels, new audiences and digital consumption.

Between 2014 and 2021, Kamal worked at BBC News as Editorial Director, Economics Editor and Business Editor. He joined the BBC from the Telegraph Media Group where he was Executive Business Editor responsible for The Sunday Telegraph's business and economics coverage.

Between 2007 and 2009 Kamal was Group Director, Communications at the Equality and Human Rights Comission, the regulator charged with upholding and enforcing equality and human rights legislation in Britain.

He has also been Head of News and Political Editor of The Observer and has worked at The Guardian and Scotland on Sunday.

Kamal's first book, The Life and Times of a Very British Man, was published by Bloomsbury in 2018.

The Charter Dinner celebrates the granting of the Company's Royal Charter by Queen Mary Tudor on 4 May 1557. Official Company guests are invited to this dinner, who include the chief executives of our Corporate Members, chairmen of affiliated Trade Associations, with their chief executives and senior executives from our main suppliers.

Guests and spouses/partners are welcome, but your spouse may be seated opposite you, not adjacent (unless you otherwise specify). Liverymen are asked to remind their guests that they should not leave the table until the Master and principal guests have departed and certainly not before the Loyal Toast. Badges should NOT be worn by private guests.

Formal Pour Mémoire invitation cards will be posted to you on receipt of the booking.

The deadline for booking is Wednesday, 19 April 2023, after which no refunds will be given.

The champagne reception will take place in the Court Room at 6.30 pm. Following this, a four-course dinner will be served in the Hall at 7.00 pm. Carriages will be at 10.30 pm.
