BRITTEN SINFONIA with GUY CUTTING tenor
This concert celebrates the anniversaries of St Cecilia, Patron Saint of Music and Musicians, and of Stationers' Hall, built 350 years ago in 1673.
We welcome Britten Sinfonia, one of the UK's finest chamber orchestras, and the acclaimed tenor, Guy Cutting.
'Music for St Cecilia over Five Centuries' includes:
Purcell: Arias from Hail, Bright Cecilia (premièred at Stationers’ Hall in 1692)
Handel: 'Arrival of the Queen of Sheba' and 'Wher’er you walk'
Coleridge Taylor: Nonet
Bliss: ‘Adagietto espressivo’ from Clarinet Quintet
Vaughan Williams: Three songs from On Wenlock Edge
Britten: ‘Pan’ from Six Metamorphoses
Michael Berkeley: Clarion Call and Gallop
The concert will be preceded by a Champagne Reception and followed by a Vin d’Amitié, when the audience and musicians can mingle.
Book your tickets quickly as this event will be a sellout!
