Spectrum Innovations elevates quality and capability with HEIDELBERG Versafire LP Investment

Spectrum Innovations invested in a Versafire LP to benefit from its exceptional print quality. As the company needed to increase output and overall print quality, HEIDELBERG was a natural choice.

“As a litho printer, we have always had HEIDELBERG presses,” says Kath Doran, Managing Director of Spectrum Innovations. “As we move forward on our digital journey, we wanted to upgrade to a new level of quality and production capabilities. HEIDELBERG has always been our trusted partner and is held in such high esteem within the print industry. After exploring our market options and completing a great deal of testing, we determined that the Versafire satisfied our needs.”

The Versafire LP, with its wide range of capabilities, exceeded the company’s expectations. In addition, Prinect’s extra tools assisted both the front office and production aspects of the business.

The Versafire LP delivers outstanding print quality, high-volume output, and compatibility with a wide range of materials. As a true digital all-rounder, the Versafire LP incorporates colour measurement and inline registration to ensure greater accuracy, reliability, and production efficiency. Switching between offset and digital output—including colour adjustments—can be completed within seconds, even at the last moment.

With its ability to maintain precise registration and consistent colour matching, the Versafire can reproduce saved jobs exactly as they were printed previously, significantly speeding up turnaround times. This press enables Spectrum to achieve exceptional print quality more quickly, while also expanding the range of material thicknesses and substrates the team can confidently work with. Its proven capacity for handling diverse materials further enhances Spectrum’s production flexibility and capability.

HEIDELBERG staged a demonstration of the Versafire LP and Prinect Digital Front End for the Spectrum team at Stockley Park, during which the team noted the product’s ease of use and colour management, as well as the efficiency of the Prinect Job Maker and the simpler imposition method. This helped with the decision-making process, as Spectrum moved from a Fiery to a Prinect Digital Front End.

The demonstration also allowed HEIDELBERG to showcase the strength of the Versafire product. Customer confidence was improved, making HEIDELBERG Spectrum’s preferred business partner for the digital space.

“The investment has created a buzz amongst the team,” adds Kath. “There has been a real lift in mood and a sense of optimism; we genuinely have a happier team now.”

“This new machine provides the company with a great deal of output capacity, and also boosts the range of job types they can offer. This is due to the varied capabilities offered by the Versafire in terms of materials and registers. The Versafire LP can produce up to 4,500 A3 sheets per hour and supports a wide array of substrates, including materials up to 470gsm,” says Phil Buttress, Head of Sales of HEIDELBERG UK.

Established in 1922, Spectrum are based in Stockport, Greater Manchester. They specialise in the production of high-quality printed goods with a quick turnaround time, at highly competitive prices.
