The Master told attendees that Andrew who is the Chair of the 15 strong Financial Services Group of Livery Companies (FSG) and an elected Member of The Livery Committee, has the full support of the Company. If elected he will be the first Non-Aldermanic Sheriff the Company has had in nearly 160 years, so it was important for members to both sign up to support him and to vote for him on the 24th of June next year.

Andrew, an international strategy consultant, will bring 30 years’ board level strategy to the Civic Team.  He is a committed champion of professional standards and trade associations and has been appointed to roles such as President of the Marketing Society, Chairman of the Institute of Promotional Marketing and Chairman of the Incorporated Society of British Advertisers. He also chaired the landmark Advertising Standards Authority Code Review and the Armed Forces Communication Capability Review.

Andrew has spent all his life supporting and contributing to many charities. Amongst others, he has been a Trustee of national charities like Marie Curie and ‘Change, Grow, Live’ the major drug rehabilitation charity.  He is currently a member of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal Board, and the Becket Pageant Committee.

As well as being a Liveryman of the Stationers, Chair of the FSG and member of the Livery Committee, he is a Past Master of the Marketors, a Warden of the World Traders, a Liveryman of the Glaziers and a Past President of the Aldgate Ward Club.

Sir Michael Bear comments: “In essence Sheriffs need to have an outstanding CV. They are required to be good communicators, good convenors, and confident public speakers; have credible networks and successful business experience, and above all excellent ambassadorial qualities.  A successful Sheriff will also have strong commitment to the Livery, the respect of the Corporation Officers and Members and support from their family home team. Andrew has all of the above in spades.”

Andrew’s wide-ranging marketing background, gravitas and interpersonal skills are widely considered an ideal complement to the insurance and corporate finance backgrounds of the likely 2022-23 Lord Mayor and Aldermanic Sheriff.
