Yesterday we held the Richard Johnson ‘Bubble’ Service at St Bride’s with a lunch at Stationers' Hall. It was an uplifting service followed by the chance to meet old friends and new.
For many this occasion is one of the most special in the Company calendar. At the lunch, we celebrated our association with the Royal Marines Corps by awarding three Stationers' trophies.
The service began at 11.30 am at St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street and we were delighted that the Reverend Rupert Shelley, Chaplain of RMR was the guest preacher this year. The preacher was, as requested by Richard Johnson in his Last Will & Testament, take on the topic of Vita Humana Bulla Est (Life is a Bubble) for the sermon.
The music at the Bubble Service, provided by the excellent choir of St Bride’s, is always wonderful and featured, amongst more sacred anthems, the popular 'I’m forever blowing bubbles'.
