8 JUNE 2026

The Stationers’ Company proudly supports the Royal Marines in various ways throughout the year: they use our Hall for events, we donate financially to their charities and we give awards to their top students in various courses, including a ceremonial commando dagger to the top recruit who completes the arduous 32 week Commando training course from RMR London.

On Tuesday, 2 June, nine Royal Marines from Commando Training Centre in Exmouth and the Commanding Officer of 47 Commando, with his 2ic, attended the Bubble service and lunch at Stationers’ Hall.

Liveryman Lord Sedwill (Mark), former Cabinet Secretary and former National Security Advisor, is an Honorary Colonel of the Royal Marines and gave a heartfelt speech at the lunch as to why it is so important for organisations like ours to support the crucial work the service men and women do for our Nation.

With the Master, Lord Sedwill presented three awards to the top students from Lympstone, before the 11 Royal Marines were marched off by a group of thirsty Stationers to a local London pub.

Then on Friday, 5 June the Master and IPM, with their consorts and the Clerk, were privileged to be guests of General Sir Gwyn Jenkins, First Sea Lord and Commandant General Royal Marines, at the Royal Marines Presentation of Colours ceremony at Windsor Castle. This happens roughly every 25 years, when units of the Armed Forces receive their colours from the Sovereign. His Majesty the King presented the colours at a wonderful ceremony on the quadrangle, after which His Majesty came down the line of spectators to say ‘hello’.

Seeing the Master with his badge, he stopped to enquire what it was and where he had come from. The Master explained he was representing the Stationers’ Company and that The Queen had been installed as a Stationer last year. The King said, “I’m very pleased. That’s good.”
