Last Friday new Warrant Holder; Hensal Communications, received a visit from John Livingston Chair of the Warrants Committee. Based in Bedfordshire Hensal represents an increasing trend in members of The Stationers’ Company, whose main assets are their expertise, knowledge & experience, instead of bricks, mortar & machinery.

Its foundations go back to the 1960s when Liveryman Murray Sale’s father set up Hensal Press. As the second generation in the industry, owner Murray focuses Hensal Communications on providing a full print management service. Hensal combines their expertise with a trusted supplier network, to deliver high-quality print on time, every time.

Hensal’s strength is in bridging the gap between businesses and the complex, fragmented world of print production. Hensal was established with the purpose of giving clients “the power to impress”, believing that physical print continues to engage readers in a way digital media cannot replicate.

When asked what aspect of the job brings most satisfaction, Murray said it was problem solving: “Another Warrant holder had an issue with low cost personalising some volume stitched booklets. I knew what the process required and sourced a printer via the printing machine manufacturer”. “Thinking outside the box is a necessity”.

Most Company members will have had an opportunity to appreciate Hensal’s work as they have produced the Stationers’ Almanac. It is our Company’s flagship publication that is distributed to all members. It is a prestigious brochure and must be produced to the very highest standards, as it is closely scrutinised by our members.

Applying to become a Warrant Holder is significantly boosted by testimonials. There are some excellent testimonials on the Hensal site including one from Mick Feegrade Production Manager at British Red Cross:

“Murray and the team at Hensal consistently go above and beyond when it comes to both service and quality. Their turnaround times — on pricing and production — are second to none. No matter the challenge, the team is always on hand to offer advice and help find the best solution. I can always rely on Hensal to deliver, hassle-free and to a superb standard, every single time.”

Murray has noticed that print buyers and specifiers now require a higher level of service, expecting suppliers to correct and improve the artwork initially supplied. “We are currently working to incorporate an AI tool which will automatically resize pictures in artwork to optimise the layout.

Chair of the Warrants Panel John Livingston was delighted to see the 2026 Stationers’ warrant proudly displayed on the opening page of the Hensal site. The gold Warrant is also used to enhance email signatures, is taken to networking events and will soon appear on pop-up banners.

The Warrants Panel was pleased to note that sustainability is central to the way Hensal operate. They carefully select and manage a network of production partners who meet strict environmental standards ensuring every project delivered minimises environmental impact without compromising quality.

Hensal see it as their responsibility to educate and guide customers towards environmentally responsible print choices offering carbon-balanced paper schemes and vegetable-based inks.

Perhaps the final words should be left to customer Katy O’Sullivan of Isabel Hospice:

“We’ve been working with Hensal Communications for quite some time, and I genuinely can’t speak highly enough of them.

What sets them apart is not just the high-quality printing, but the way they’ve become an extension of our team. They truly understand our needs and are always ready to go above and beyond to help us bring our marketing and sales materials to life.

We’re grateful for the relationship we’ve built with them over the years, and I look forward to continuing to work together. It’s clear that their passion for what they do, combined with their top-notch technology, makes them a standout in the industry.”
