A signature notebook defined by craftsmanship and colour. The Colour Block notebook has become Charfleet’s signature and best-selling range. Each notebook features 192 pages of plain white 100gsm paper, bound within tactile linen covers in a palette of bold, expressive colours. Distinctive details, including blind embossed wording, colour-sprayed page edges, and a coordinated ribbon marker, give each piece its own identity.
Designed in a compact 165mm x 165mm format, the notebooks are created for versatility, equally suited to writing, sketching, and everyday use. The result is a product that moves effortlessly between desk, bag, and daily life, while maintaining a refined and considered presence.
Designed for modern life, rooted in tradition. More than 70 years ago, on Canvey Island in Essex, Charfleet began with a simple belief: that a book should be made to endure. That philosophy continues to guide the bindery today. Each notebook is crafted in England using traditional bookbinding techniques, shaped not by automationalone, but by the expertise of skilled makers behind every spine, fold, and finish. This dedication ensures that every book carries not only function, but heritage.
A space for ideas in a fast-paced world
In an increasingly digital and fast-moving world, the act of writing by hand offers something different: a moment to slow down.
The Colour Block notebook is designed as a place to gather thoughts, explore ideas, and capture the details that shape everyday life. As expressed in the collection narrative, colour plays a central role: each shade evoking a distinct mood, from optimism and creativity to reflection and purpose. This emotional connection, combined with enduring quality, is what
continues to resonate with users. The notebook becomes more than an object; it becomes a personal space where ideas take form and stories unfold.
A continued focus on craft and future growth The Stationers’ Company Warrant recognises
Charfleet’s ongoing commitment to craftsmanship, design integrity, and UK manufacturing. The bindery continues to evolve its collections for modern lifestyles while remaining rooted in the values that define it: care, discipline, and respect for craft.
Charfleet Book Bindery views this recognition as both an honour and a reaffirmation of its
purpose, to create books that are made to last, and made to be lived with.
