Announcing the Inaugural York Wayzgoose

30 MARCH 2026

One of our most recent members, Helen Smith, is delighted to announce the first York Wayzgoose, featuring superb guest speakers, workshops, demonstrations, excursions, a print-your-own-beermat pub crawl, a print auction, a drinks reception and Wayzgoose dinner.

Historically, a Wayzgoose marked the transition to candlelit winter working, celebrated with a late-summer feast given by a master printer for their journeymen. The York event, running from 6th-8th August 2026, will be a three-day festival of traditional printing and printmaking techniques, featuring plenary talks from Laura Boswell (Printmakers of Scotland Printmaker of the Year 2025), type designer and calligrapher Vera Evstfieva, Jamie Murphy (Salvage Press), and Belinda Ugalde (Imprenta Enlace).

Chair of the Warrants Panel John Livingston Visits Thames Valley Hospice.

18 MARCH 2026

Freeman John visited the Maidenhead based hospice in his role as chair of possibly the UK’s oldest stationery related charity: The Barker Bridge House Trust founded in 1644 by a legacy for Past Master and King James Bible printer Robert Barker.

The Trust is established to fund good causes in the local area. Recently they 100% funded a new software system to increase the productivity of medical staff by 10%.

John said, “This is a wonderful place of positivity and support. I was delighted to meet Medical Director Dr Nick Dando (Pictured) who has a clear vison of how to provide outstanding care, getting value for every pound given. In 40+ years in business Dr Nick’s presentation was the best I have ever witnessed”. More details about the Thames Valley Hospice can be found @ thameshospice.org.uk
