Barley was founded in 2016 by James Ford and Sam Williams. Both had taken voluntary redundancy from a big agency whose values no longer aligned with their own. When they talked about what to do next, they found they had a shared vision which they brought to life in Barley - ‘smart people making a difference through brilliant work’.

Office Power, established in 2014, is a fully managed e-commerce and back-end technology platform designed specifically for the office supplies industry. Designed to increase profitability for office supplies dealers, the product's primary goal is to consolidate various operational aspects— such as customer support, distribution, fulfilment, operational administration, finance, and marketing —into one efficient platform. By doing so, Office Power aims to reduce overhead costs, improve product pricing, and provide data insights to guide business decision-making.

The Cupround project seeks to recover single use cups that are delivered or migrate to home, car or the office. The need for a scheme like Cupround was grasped when following a takeaway meal, I realised that I could recycle all the packaging except the cups. With the support of The National Cup Recycling Scheme, we created a return box (itself made from recycled cups) which we distribute to restaurants. The box carries information on where to recycle cups, store detail and advertising.
