Stationers' attend the Doctor Who Convention in LA

Derwin Mak (left) and Tony Lee (right) were the only two Stationers at Gallifrey One, a Doctor Who convention held in Los Angeles, California, United States, from 14 to 16 February 2025. Both have extensive backgrounds in science fiction writing. Derwin Mak's next volume of short stories, XY-Girls and More Stories, will be published by Brain Lag Books in Canada this spring. Tony Lee has written for various science fiction and comics franchises and writes the Detective Inspector Declan Walsh crime novels under the pen name Jack Gatland. 10 February 2025 – BPIF Training is proud to launch the Apprenticeship Champion Network as part of National Apprenticeship Week 2025. The initiative will bring together passionate advocates from across the print industry to support, promote, and enhance apprenticeships, ensuring the future success of businesses and professionals
in the sector.

The Apprenticeship Champion Network is designed to connect employers, training providers, and industry leaders, creating a collaborative space where members can share best practices, mentor apprentices, and advocate for skills development within the printing industry. By becoming an Apprenticeship Champion, individuals and businesses will play a key role in raising awareness of apprenticeship opportunities and the benefits they bring to both employers and learners.

Supporting Skills Development and Careers BPIF Training has long been at the forefront of apprenticeship provision, helping to develop the next generation of skilled professionals. With over 400 apprentices currently in training and partnerships with more than 150 employers, the launch of the Apprenticeship Champion Network is a natural next step in strengthening the
industry’s skills pipeline.

Liveryman Philip Womack visited Leigh Stationers’ Primary Academy on the 6th February, where he talked to the whole school about myths and legends in his books, The Double Axe and The Arrow of Apollo. The school enjoyed learning about Philip's first story (about talking squirrels), and joining in with guessing who the monsters and gods were. There were lots of questions.
