Monday 13 January 2020 - A Bumper Day for Ceremonies

Freedoms and bursary awards celebrated at two Master and Wardens' meetings on a very busy day for the Company!

 
At the first Master and Wardens’ meeting of 2020  at 10.00 am  five people were made Free of the Company.
They were:
Andrew Bordiss - retired journalist
Rombout Eikelenboom - Managing Partner of Printforce Group
Amy Hutchinson - CEO of the BOSS Federation
Jill Palmer - retired journalist
Dhara Snowden - Commissioning Editor with Rowman & Littlefield International

In the evening there was an extraordinary Master & Wardens’ meeting at which bursary recipients who had successfully completed their studies were made Free of the Company.
 
They were:
Kunal Bindra – who had completed his LLM at Queen Mary University of London
Ed Carey – who had completed his MA in Documentary Photography and Photojournalism at the University of Westminster
Matthew Child – who had completed his BPIF MSC in Management at the University of South Wales
Aanya Davé – who had completed her MA in Publishing at University College, London
Oğulcan Ekiz    – who had completed his LLM at Queen Mary University of London
Jake Isaac Hearn – who had completed his MA Library and Information Studies
Alicja Pawlowska – who had completed his LLM at Queen Mary College
Lucy Raby – who had completed her MA in Publishing at Oxford Brookes University
Olivia Rook – who had completed her MA in Magazine Journalism at City University, London
Bethan Summerfield – who had completed her MA in Publishing at Oxford Brookes University

We congratulate all these new Freemen and look forward to seeing them at events at the Hall.  We also wish good luck to those bursary recipients currently looking for their first jobs in our industries and we wish those well who are already settled in their new roles. 
 
After the second Freedom Ceremony Liveryman Nicholas Brealey, the Foundation trustee charged with responsibility for the bursary programme, announced the 2019 bursary recipients.The Master presented the Foundation bursary recipients with their certificates.  They were:
 
Molly Chell – studying for an MA in Publishing Media at Oxford Brookes University
Tiffany Cook - studying for an MA in Publishing at the University of Kingston
Bryony Davies - studying for an MA in Library and Information Studies at University College London
James Hacker - studying for an MA in Magazine Journalism at City, University of London
Jung Ying Mach - studying for an MA in Publishing at City, University of London
Eleanor Masterman - studying for an MA in Publishing Media at Oxford Brookes University
Jack Matts - studying for an MA in Publishing at London College of Communication, University of the
Arts London
Alys Parsons - studying for an MA in Multimedia Journalism at the Centre for Journalism, University of Kent
Ryan Prince - studying for an MA in Documentary Photography and Photojournalism, University of
Westminster
Charles Thompson - studying for an MA in Multimedia Journalism at the Centre for Journalism, University of Kent

The Master was then joined by Neil Lovell, CEO of the Printing Charity, to present certificates to those bursary recipients whose awards are made in partnership with the Printing Charity.  They were:

Peter Friend - studying for an MA in Digital Media at Goldsmiths, University of London
Aimée Smith- studying for an MA in Publishing at Anglia Ruskin University

Lastly, the Master was joined by Tom Rivers Vice-President of the British Literary and Artistic Copyright Association (BLACA) who presented certificates to those whose awards were made in Partnership with BLACA.  They were:
 
Jake Campbell – studying for a Diploma in UK, EU and US Copyright Law at King's College London
Olivia Jean-Baptiste – studying for an LL.M in Intellectual Property Law at Queen Mary University of London
