Stationers' Company Charter

9 JUNE 2021

We're looking forward to our forthcoming Charter Dinner, celebrating the grant of a Royal Charter to the Stationers' Company in 1557. The original Charter was lost, probably in the 1666 Fire of London, but you'll all be familiar with the rather splendid 1684 Charter granted by Charles II in 1684, a facsimile of which (see image) hangs in the Court Room. You will notice more publicity over the coming weeks for a LivCom Literary evening with Court Assistant  Jon Drori.  Jon has already done one of these virtual events based on his book Around the World in 80 Trees and on 17 June he will focus on his new book, Around the World in 80 Plants, which was launched just last week.  You can find all the details and register to attend here .

Members who missed Jon’s first presentation (or those who enjoyed it enormously) may be interested to know that he has been asked by the Livery Companies that make up the Wood Group, ie the Furniture Makers, Joiners and Ceilers, Turners, Upholders and Wheelwrights, to give a webinar on Around the World in 80 Trees on  Wednesday 26 May at 5.45 for a 6pm start and Stationers are invited.
