1 MARCH 2021
Such was the interest in this event which promised to be fascinating that 116 people registered for it and of those some 81 actually attended. Doug Wills, Editor Emeritus of the Evening Standard, did not disappoint!
We take pride in being the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers – but for how much longer will newspapers be published?
For many generations, the streets around the Hall have echoed to the cries of newspaper sellers but now most readers consume information online and are more likely to be seen scanning a mobile phone than a traditional paper.
Some fear that traditional newspapers face an existential threat - but Liveryman and Court member Doug Wills believes that printing presses will thunder into life to print millions of papers for some time to come.
Liveryman Jonathan Grun's full report will appear in Stationers' News but you can click the image below to watch a recording of the evening.
